Scenteq — scenting spaces
Restaurant aroma solution in a sunlit dining room as a waiter serves

Restaurants, Bars & Hospitality

Atmosphere that never competes with the food.

Restrained scenting for arrival, bar, private dining and washrooms.

The challenge

The experience challenge in hospitality

Kitchen extraction sets the rules. Scent belongs where food aroma should not lead — the entrance, the bar, the washrooms.

Get the intensity wrong and it reads as cover-up. Placement and restraint matter more than product here.

Discreet units for entrances, washrooms and lounge areas, kept deliberately away from dining zones.

Odour neutralisation

HVAC scenting systems

For larger venues, hotel restaurants and multi-room operations with suitable ventilation infrastructure.

Signature scent development

A restrained house fragrance for groups wanting a consistent arrival experience across venues.

Our approach

How Scenteq works with restaurants, bars & hospitality

  1. 01

    Kitchen-first planning

We assess extraction, make-up air and door movement before specifying anything, so scenting never fights the kitchen.

  2. 02

    Dining zones protected

Fragrance is deliberately excluded from tables and pass areas; the focus is arrival, bar, washrooms and function space.

  3. 03

    Service-hours installation

Installation and replenishment happen outside service, agreed with the general manager.

  4. 04

    Group consistency

For restaurant and bar groups we document a specification that can be repeated at new sites.

Fragrance

Relevant fragrance direction

  • Dry woods, tobacco leaf and amber for bar and lounge areas
  • Crisp citrus and herbal accords for daytime and brunch venues
  • Clean, neutral profiles for washrooms with odour control built in
  • Deliberately food-neutral character throughout — never gourmand

Buyer's guide

What to know before scenting a restaurant

The kitchen already owns the aroma story. Scenting here is about the arrival, the bar and the washrooms — never competing with the food.

Placement over strength

Entrance, waiting area and WCs are scented; the dining floor is usually left to the kitchen. Extraction direction decides where a unit can sit.

Neutral, not fragrant

For odour-led problems we specify profiles that clear stale air rather than layering perfume over it.

Fitted around service

Installation happens between services or before opening, typically inside a couple of hours for a standalone system.

What we'll ask on the call

Have these to hand and we can usually quote the same day.

  • Extraction and make-up air layout
  • Where guests wait before being seated
  • Washroom odour complaints, if any
  • Covers per service and peak hours
  • Quiet window for install

Trust

What you can hold us to.

We would rather under-promise. These are commitments we can evidence — not claims about how much you will sell.

  • IFRA-certified fragrance

Oils are supplied to IFRA standards with safety data sheets available before you order.

  • Written price before install

System, scent, install date and monthly cost confirmed in writing. No survey fee, no obligation.

  • Installed and serviced by us

UK engineers, insured and DBS-checked, fitted around your opening hours — not a drop-shipped box.

  • Dry vapour, no residue

Cold-air diffusion leaves no oily film on surfaces, glass or soft furnishings.

  • Try it in your space first

We tune intensity on site after go-live. If the scent is not right, we change it.

FAQs

Restaurants, Bars & Hospitality scenting FAQs

Won't scenting interfere with the food?
It shouldn't, and that is the whole basis of the specification. We keep fragrance out of dining zones and use food-neutral profiles in arrival and washroom areas.
Can you help with cooking odours reaching the entrance?
Yes. That is usually an extraction and pressure issue, and we address it with odour neutralisation rather than masking it with fragrance.
What can be done about washroom odour at peak service?
Washrooms are typically treated with a combination of continuous low-level neutralisation and light ambient scenting.
Do you work with cellars and waste stores?
Yes. These are common back-of-house odour points and are assessed as part of the visit.
Can different areas run at different times?
Yes. Systems can be scheduled so the bar, function rooms and washrooms follow their own operating patterns.

In their words

What clients tell us afterwards.

Feedback from live UK installations, published with client sign-off. Most sites ask to stay unnamed, so we publish the role, sector and city instead.

The lobby reads as finished now. Guests do not comment on the fragrance — they comment on the hotel feeling more expensive.

Office scenting: a bright commercial reception and breakout area during the working day
Installed between shifts, no mess, and the reception team stopped noticing it within a fortnight. That was the goal.

Every store smells the same now, which is what we could never get from plug-ins. One contract, one invoice.
